Profile - Jess Land
I was born in England in 1995 and lived there until the age of seven when my family decided to make the move to New Zealand. At the age of eleven I started having the odd lesson at a local riding school and by twelve I was totally hooked spending every weekend up at Kowhai Residential School of Riding. Here I learnt to ride a variety of ponies including a couple of 12hh ponies I was given to break in as well as starting to compete on the pony club eventing circuit. At the end of 2012 the decision to purchase my own horse was made and soon after I was given the opportunity to become a working pupil for Katie Meredith. With Katie I got the chance to watch and learn about breaking in and starting young horses as well as being given the opportunity to gain experience show jumping one of her horses. At the start of 2014 I spent four and a half months working for the Steiners in Tauranga. This was an amazing experience and I learnt a huge amount about running a successful business. I am now running my own equine business from our property in Swannanoa where I focus mainly on sale on behalf. I have competed to Mini Prix SJ and 2* eventing.
